The Costume Institute's Gala

Last evening was the fashion event of the year...the annual Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute Gala. This year's theme was American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity and the fashion did not disappoint. So many great looks...but my favorite of the evening had to be Melissa George in J. Mendel. This look screams Old Hollywood, which I think is so perfect (and so timeless!) for the red carpet. I love that she kept her accessories rather neutral and minimal. Could you imagine if she didn't? It would have been too much. Her beautiful curls, the flowing ruffles, and the golden yellow color of the gown really are accessory enough.

*As a side note, another reason I think I love this dress is because it kind of reminds me of the Vera Wang gown Michelle Williams wore to the Oscars in 2006.

Dress Like a Celebrity

The other day Ginnifer Goodwin showed up to the N.Y.C. launch of Zac Posen for Target wearing this harem pants/blazer combo. Now I am not going to lie...I detest hate detest harem pants. They remind me of the MC Hammer pants I owned in the 4th grade. But the pair that Ginnifer has on here actually look cute (they don't appear to be droopy).

I put together a super affordable version of this outfit. Click on the collage below to see where each piece is from.

Would You Wear This?

Alexa Chung was spotted out shopping in L.A., wearing this scoop neck Isabel Marant dress accessorized with a Chanel bag, bucket hat, & leather sandals. Usually I am liking Alexa's style...but this look is a mess! He looks so frumpy. I am sure it is a super comfy look to have on, but it is not . Blech!

Lookin' Fab

I just adore Kate Hudson. And I think I like her even more after watching her last night on Inside the Actor's Studio. One thing I love about her is her wardrobe. Check out this amazing outfit she had on the other night in NYC.

Typically, I'm really not one for dressy pants. I kind of hate them actually. I guess I feel that if I'm getting dressed up I want to wear a dress or a skirt. But Kate really looks amazing in these wide-leg slacks. Maybe I should give dress slacks another chance...
